ABOUT VRx
VRx provides early-stage Dementia patients unique personalized virtual reality programs. Our team is comprised of pharmacy students dedicated to providing industry-leading virtual reality care and as a company, we aim to improve and track outcomes associated with Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
THE TEAM
Nico Patel
Co-Founder
Nico is currently completing his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree at MCPHS University. During both didactic and clinical experiences he came to learn about the vast challenges of patients diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Nico was the Project Manager for VRx for the 2018 Capstone Business Plan Competition. After developing the idea of introducing virtual reality (VR) experiences to this patient population, a fascination and desire was ignited. He hopes to make a wide impact on healthcare through this unique venture.
Haris Akbar
Co-Founder
Haris is currently completing his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree at MCPHS University. With a strong passion for technology, Haris has spent considerable time outside of his studies developing and researching innovative healthcare applications. During his doctoral studies, Haris recognized the limited number of treatment options for Alzheimer’s patients. This inspired him to found VRx and focus his efforts on the development of programs that improve outcomes for this growing population.
Neema Shah
Co-Founder
Neema is currently completing her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree at MCPHS University. During her early experiential rotations, she witnessed the impact of Alzheimer’s first hand. She would like to dedicate her clinical focus on the geriatric population. With VRx, she hopes to improve Alzheimer’s patient’s quality of life.
